Human Resources Generalist – Employee Relations & Development

Description Summary: Provides a broad range of consultative services to all levels of employees and management regarding policies and procedures. Focuses on improving the organization’s capability through the alignment of strategy, structure, people, rewards, metrics, and management processes. Coordinates employee-related programs, manages resolution of employee relations issues, and gathers information on worker attitudes to facilitate employee satisfaction by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provides advice and counsel to managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, company policy and employment laws, to ensure compliance.
  • Continually initiates activities to improve the organization’s capability through the alignment of strategy, structure, people, rewards, metrics, and management processes
  • Using experience and judgment to assist employees, supervisors and department heads settle work-related conflicts through advice and recommendation.
  • In conjunction with HR Generalist handles immigration process and works with parent organization to handle all aspects of expatriate program as well as assists employees with travel visa information, coordinating with outside counsel.
  • Meets with management to discuss possible development/disciplinary actions to be taken and recommends solutions.
  • Set up and administer company wide performance appraisal system and programs. Continually evaluates program and makes recommendations for improvement.
  • Coordinates employee-related programs.
  • Responds to employee inquiries and concerns.
  • Interviews workers to gather information on their responses to general factors that affect worker morale, motivation, and efficiency.
  • Responsible for Company wide job description process to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Prepares separation paperwork and represents the company for unemployment claims, including hearings.
  • Gathers the data, analyzes the data and meets with Senior Management to ensure Talent Management Programs are continually reviewed and revised as needed.
  • Partners with Senior Management to implement department and corporate realignment of employee resources.
  • Management of Personnel Records to ensure compliance with all government regulations and laws.
  • Conducts exit interviews and prepares turnover analysis reports.
  • Conducts Management Training and manage external programs.
  • Responsible for the update and maintenance of the Training database and all external training.
  • Access to compensation information is necessary in order to perform the appropriate employee relations functions or other routinely assigned business tasks. The function or duties of this position include protecting and maintaining the privacy of employee personnel records, including compensation information.
  • Assists in new hire and termination activities.
  • Participates in projects as assigned.

Education & Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required with minimum 5 years experience.
  • PHR preferred; valid drivers license required.
  • Up to 20% travel.

Skills:

  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Human Resource systems; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as policy and procedure manuals and government publications. Ability to write reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions.
