Special Projects Accountant GAAP and IFRS
Summary: Responsible for and provides direction on various accounting special topics, such as IFRS, US GAAP, tax and business licenses, enhancements to ERP as well as other finance process improvement initiatives and conversion projects.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Key role in accounting and related conversion projects. Performs gap analysis between US GAAP vs IFRS vs consolidation file. Point of contract for local Accounting team. Interface with HQ finance, local IT team, and external consultants in implementation of transition.
Key role in review and implementation of tax nexus study. Interface with external service providers in implementation of robust processes to ensure compliance with tax and business licenses reporting and filing requirements. Plays key role in related system upgrade or implementation. Provides support to preparation and response to sales and use tax, and financial audits.
Performs internal control review of system controls (accounting system rules and configuration) and process controls. Recommends and supports implementation of needed internal controls and system / process refinements.
Participates or leads end to end transformation projects including customer order to invoice to billing to cash, purchase to pay, cash management solutions, fix assets subledger, record to report processes. Provides project management leadership, interface with other departments, facilitates meetings and work sessions.
Participates or leads implementation of set up in accounting system related to manufacturing and supply chain processes. Set up, review and refinement of standard costs, variance reporting and analysis.
Participates in development, documentation and implementation of accounting policies – including but not limited to revenue recognition, inventory controls, lease accounting, fixed assets, travel expense policy, purchase to pay, bad debt and sales returns provision, warranty accounting.
Provides support to Accounting team in performance of accounting operations, account reconciliations, as well as financial close and reporting.
Identifies and participates in continuous implementation of process improvement activities. Work on special projects as assigned.
Provides training and knowledge transfer within Finance and to other departments.
Education & Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from four-year college or university required; CPA or Master’s Degree preferred.
Minimum 5 years related experience in an Accounting or Finance, with 2 years in public accounting or audit role.
May involve travel 5%
Highly proficient in EXCEL and WORD and Powerpoint
Excellent communication skills both oral and written
Experience in system implementation or conversion
Demonstrated knowledge in IFRS
Project management skills
