Position: Senior Mac OS X Software Programmer

Our Client an information provider to the telecommunications industry for the past  two decades , located in NNJ is looking for a senior-level software developer who has expertise in the Mac OS X platform and Cocoa development environment.

They need an independent, self-motivated leader who possesses an uncanny willingness to be creative and advance the product development process.  The ideal candidate has a natural ability to find simple, elegant solutions to complex problems and can review code from a theoretical perspective to ensure its correctness.  This position requires someone who is highly detailed and accurate, yet focused on our goals at the macro level.  This is a great opportunity to make a major impact at a small company, and immediately see the results of your efforts.

Primary Responsibilities:

Enhance and maintain an existing codebase of internal frameworks and applications written in Objective-C (Cocoa), and customer-facing applications written in Java.

Guide the current and future design of related SQL databases and web-based services.

Generate production-quality code, and peer-review other developers’ work for the same.

Required Knowledge/Experience:

  • Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science
  • 4-6 Years experience as a commercial software developer
  • Excellent software design and implementation skills

Strong grasp of traditional CS paradigms and solutions

Object-oriented design principles (MVC)

  • Software Development on the Mac OS X platform

Xcode Development Environment

Objective-C Programming Language

Cocoa frameworks and concepts

  • SQL and RDBMS design (PostgreSQL or similar)


Beneficial Knowledge & Skills:

  • Development using Java in Eclipse
  • Enterprise Telephony Concepts (TDM, VoIP, SIP)
  • Expertise with Avaya unified communications products
  • Web fundamentals (HTML, CSS, JavaScript)

Networking fundamentals (IP/TCP/UDP, routing, QoS
